Job description: Major Job Duties and Responsibilities: * Performs the more complex and specialized mechanical and/or electrical tests on product components or series of components * Develops special purpose instrumentation and/or shop or laboratory test equipment * Maintains records on work performed, analyzes data collected and reports results * Recommends revisions to product or component design * Maintains good housekeeping, safety practices and supplies * Coordinates and exchanges findings with engineering personnel outside work group on an occasional basis Required Skills/Experience: * Knowledge in MS Office (Word) * Beginner level * Knowledge with Lotus Notes or other email communication tool * Beginner level * Good interpersonal skills involving ability to work effectively cross-functionally and cross-culturally * Good written and oral communication skills necessary for meetings and presentations * Ability to work well with others, exhibiting teamwork skills * Partners with senior management to analyze and solve issues * Ability to multitask by handling diverse assignments concurrently * Familiarity with the more complex mechanical and/or electrical concepts - 3+ years of experience * Knowledge of basic math - 3+ years of experience * Ability to read engineering drawings - 3+ years of experience * Position related experience - 3+ years of experience * Relevant auto industry experience required - Entry level (<1 year) * Past work experience required - Entry level (<1 year) * Areas of expertise include: Quality, Testing and Automotive systems Required Education/Training: * High School Diploma or GED * Associates Degree or equivalent training Required Conditions: Suppliers agree that all candidates submitted / matched to this assignment will successfully complete the required Drug Testing and Background Checks prior to the supplier confirming the acceptance of the assignment. Additional Education & Certifications: If candidate does not have a 2 year degree then 2-4 years of experience in the automotive repair/experimental build would be a minimum. Additional Areas of Expertise: Cobble shop experience / Fabrication required. Engine dynamometer testing experience preferred. Additional Technical Skills: Ability to TIG weld required. Skilled in setting up Engine and Powertrain test configurations with instrumentation and support equipment. Basic experience with analog and digital instrumentation equipment. Skilled in engine and transmission mechanical service required. Computerized test automation systems preferred. Additional Conditions & Tests: Computerized test automation systems preferred. Job Responsibilities not reflected in the standard classification description: The candidate will be trained to run a engine dynamometer, powertrain dynamometer and or to build the test pallet that is installed into the test cell.
