Job Title: Heavy Plant Fitter Location: Various Locations (Chatham, Chivenor, Stafford, Abingdon, Leuchars, Kinloss, Ripon, Larkhill) Salary: £27,000 + Benefits Duration: 18 Month Contract Start Date: Immediate Introduction: My client is one of the UK's leading support services companies. They deliver many key services including, design, build, manage, operate and maintaining assets. Dealing with companies both in the UK and overseas, supplying customers in a wide variety of industry sectors including, Defence, Marine, Naval, MoD, Nuclear, Communications, Energy and Transportation. They now have an immediate requirement for a Heavy Plant Fitter to join their small team; this is a fixed term contract for 18 months. The successful candidate will carry out repair and maintenance tasks to a wide range of earthmoving, construction and specialist plant equipment. Please note candidates applying for this role must be flexible as you will act as a reserve field service representative for the team in Afghanistan and you will be required to deploy to Afghanistan when required at short notice, therefore you must currently hold SC clearance in order to be considered. This presents itself as an ideal opportunity to join an established company and, although not essential, could be well suited for a person who has previously served in the Armed Forces i.e Army (REME, Royal Engineers), Royal Navy or Royal Air Force and has experience of working with heavy plant equipment. Candidates living in Chatham, Chivenor, Stafford, Abingdon, Leuchars, Kinloss, Ripon, Larkhill are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities: - Responsible for the repair and maintenance of, but not limited to engineer earthmoving, construction and specialist plant, cranes, forklifts and rough terrain container handling equipment and their ancillaries. - Repair, maintain and service, plant, equipment and associated ancillaries to current company standards and LOLER and PUWER legislation, both at regional pool locations and on site as directed. - Repair and maintenance of vehicle air conditioning units. - Repair and maintenance of Load Safety Systems. - You will be required to work flexibly i.e. out of hours duties, including call-outs and weekends. - Able to maintain periods of intense workload under pressure - Assist with loading/unloading/movement of equipment, spares, tools, etc. Applicant Requirements: - You must be qualified to either City and Guilds Level 3 Engineering or NVQ Level 3 Mechanical Engineering. - Must have proven background of working in a construction related plant engineering environment with 'hands on' experience in the repair and maintenance of engineer earthmoving, construction and specialist plant, cranes, forklifts and rough terrain container handling equipment. - Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. - Excellent customer service skills. - Ability work on own initiative under pressure. - Team Player. - Ability to work in severe weather conditions and under basic welfare arrangements. - IT literate. - Must hold SC clearance. - Hold full clean driving licence. - Please note this is a physically demanding job and you will be required to undergo full medical and dental fitness checks prior to start. - You must be willing to undergo the required vaccinations for travel to Afghanistan.
