Systems Specialist/Engineer (Web Applications Support) Queens, NY The incumbent will report to the manager of the Applications Support team and is expected to manage diverse environments to ensure optimal supporting, functioning and performance of applications following well established best practices principles and will be responsible for the following duties: Implement web server systems projects, which typically impact critical operations and large multiple user groups; maintain all centrally managed Web sites based on Linux, Windows, and Solaris and supporting applications Apache, IIS, and Tomcat. Troubleshoot the functionality and performance of web applications, review code to detect hacker vulnerabilities, coordinate code revision with site owners, establish and enforce standards and guidelines. Monitor transactions to measure performance and continued effectiveness of assigned systems, etc. Ensure appropriate data security and access controls considering both local and wide area issues. Maintain, upgrade or enhance existing systems; troubleshoot and provide continuing user support, Design, implement and maintain test environments; assist users in acceptance testing. Maintain user documentation for all systems, including HOWTOs, knowledge base, and system specs. Setup and configure virtual servers and load balancing in the Netscalers. Setup and administer collections in Google's SA. Monitors the crawling for performance and completeness and enforces best practices with the user community. Requirements: Experience in Citrix Netscaler for Load Balancing, SSL Offloading, Caching, Application firewalling is required. Experience in Google Search Appliance including setting up mirroring, collections, front ends, managing users is required. Proven experience in managing Apache and Tomcat and/or IIS servers. Must have excellent understanding of configuration issues and skills in troubleshooting performance issues. Certification and prior experience in a large-scale hosting environment are advantageous. Skills in writing code in at least one of C, C++, Java, Perl, Python, PHP, VBscript, Javascript, ASP, Sun Java Systems ASP (Chili!Soft), and .NET servers. Experience with configuring and diagnosing SQL server connections. Experience with MySQL is essential. Experience on MS-SQL, Sybase is a plus. Ability to identify and analyze clients' needs and develop appropriate technology to meet business requirements. Proven experience in administering systems in Linux, Solaris or Windows servers. Certification would be an asset. Must demonstrate competency in basic networking, including routing and problem diagnosis. Must demonstrate prior experience in securing systems and web applications and troubleshooting security breaches Must demonstrate a good understanding of DNS and SSL protocols. Must have experience with reverse proxies, version control systems (svn) and configuration management tools such as Puppet. Must have experience with networked file systems. Qualifications: Experience - A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in information systems, large enterprise content management systems running on various platforms such as Chilisoft, Drupal, Wordpress, Joomla, as well as proven skills on systems administration of Solaris, Linux, Windows 2008, Netscaler and GSA appliances and maintenance of mid-tier software supporting web technologies.
