Iseries Admin/ Infrastructure Manager
Job Description: Participates in design, development and implementation of systems engineering activities, to include OS technical support, systems programming and data center capabilities. Responsible for components of complex engineering and/or analytical tasks and activities. Assists in establishment of input/output processes and working parameters for hardware compatibility and coordination of subsystems design and integration of total system. Serves as a fully seasoned/proficient technical resource; provides tech knowledge and capabilities as team member and individual contributor. Will not have direct reports but will influence and direct activities of a team related to special initiatives or operations. Provides input on staffing, budget and personnel. Typically 5 or more years of systems engineering experience. The primary focus of this position is in configuration, support and troubleshooting of IBM i infrastructure hardware, operating system, network and tape/backup. This position functions as L3 technical and project support with input and oversight of required related tasks. Requires working closely with Project managers, other teams, BTGs and vendors. Required Skills: 5-7 years experience in the installation, monitoring, and troubleshooting of specific hardware and software technologies. Perform systems administration functions including installation, management, and maintenance of hardware, OS software, BRMS and tape library, IBM i network configuration and support. Works under direction of team manager, project manager, or senior technical person. 5+ years experience with IBM I platform with focus on moving toward Power 7 795 hardware architecture Proficient in LPAR design, build and validation Proficient in planning and upgrade of the IBM I operating system and HMC/Firmware Proficient in IBM i work management Knowledge of BRMS and enterprise tape library architecture(save/restore) Proficient knowledge of network protocols and troubleshooting skills IBM I TCP/IP configuration and NETSTAT troubleshooting Above average skills in CL programming Proficient in problem determination and overall troubleshooting skills Experience with hardware break/fix events Ability to communicate clearly in a large enterprise environment Ability to work independently and strives for results Able to support 24/7 on-call Knowledge and ability to work with MS Office products *Can work remote* Candidate must be able to work in a team environment Must have a good attitude Must be a quick learner
