Specific Responsibilities: Join a team of analytical chemists supporting the synthesis and development of drug candidates. Develop and execute analytical and spectroscopic methods to support the characterization of drug substances, synthetic intermediates and drug products. The candidate will interact closely with other chemists working on drug substance and drug product process development and on the implementation of manufacturing processes. The candidate will either have a PhD in analytical chemistry, spectroscopy, or a related field with a minimum of 3 years experience preferably in a pharmaceutical company. An in-depth knowledge of modern analytical techniques is required. Experience with good manufacturing practices is preferred. Essential Duties and Job Functions: Responsible for directing and executing analytical research in the development of drug candidates or the support of marketed drugs. Plan, design, and implement advanced laboratory experimentation with a focus on the application of analytical techniques to small molecule drug substances and products. May direct research associates or members of project teams in the initiation and execution of laboratory experimentation. Work on a wide range of problems where analysis of complex situations or data require evaluation of intangible variables, requiring regular application of chemistry principles in a creative fashion. This position is focused on the application of chemistry in the CMC area of small molecule drug development - experience in this area is highly desired.
