System Admin(IBM WAS,WPS,TIM,SuSe,Redhat,Linux),NY Brooklyn, NY Role: System Admin Work Location: Astoria Blvd, Bulova Corporate Center, East Elmhurst (Queens), NY 11370 Assignment Start Date: 07/02/2012 SCOPE OF SERVICES NYC DOC seeks a highly skilled systems administration specialist skilled in Linux (SuSE or RedHat, IBM WebSphere, and IBM Portal to assist in the support and maintenance of existing departmental systems. The position entails 24 x 7 monitoring of system infrastructure, creating reports when failure occurs; deploying, testing, performance tuning and administering the code changes to existing infrastructure. MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE • Strong experience and in-depth knowledge of installing, administering and maintaining SuSe or RedHat Linux servers. • Five years experience in a Web based environment, IBM WebSphere • Install and administer various server applications such as application servers (WAS), portal (IBM Portal) and ID Management (TIM). • Experience in deploying web based application in a clustering environment. • Experience with installing open source software on Linux systems, such as apache, heartbeat. • Experience in monitoring the performance of server based hardware and software. • Ability to generate reports and troubleshoot system performance • Create and follow through on change control for any modifications to the agency’s software or hardware infrastructure • Familiarity with HP servers. Ability to install Linux OS and updating all the firmware needed to bring the server up to spec. Ability to automate patching of Linux servers. • Ability to research open source technologies • Excellent interpersonal relations, communications, people skills and a self-starter DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE : - • Experience in a corporate IT environment • Experience in a customer-facing corporate environment • Understanding of business process software • Understand and experience in disaster recovery, backup and restore processes SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS This is a hybrid position where the candidate needs to have very good Linux administration skills along with strong WebSphere administration skills.
