Job Title: WebSphere Portal Administrator Duties: * Manages and maintains all production and non-production WebSphere Portal Applications and databases. Responsible for standards and configuration of the application and physical data storage as well as maintenance, access and security administration. * Performs backup and recovery on WebSphere portal databases. Directs staff, contract employees, and other external vendors/resources to accomplish routine and/or lower level tasks. * Establishes and maintains security and integrity controls. Contributes to department standards regarding data security and integrity. Formulates and monitors policies, procedures and standards relating to database management. * Works in an office environment sitting at a desk, table or computer workstation for long periods of time. May travel by car, plane or other forms of transportation to attend business meetings or conferences. Approximately 50-80 percent of time spent on the job involves the use of a personal computer. Skills: * Experience working with Portal Application administration tools. Understanding of Portal Administration configuration techniques and the impact on the deployed portal applications. * Strong troubleshooting skills within and outside of a Portal environment. Demonstrated, in-depth knowledge of Portal configuration and content management. * Solid understanding of various business practices and process flows * 8+ years in WebSphere Portal Server Administration or comparable experience with JSR-168, JSR-268, WSRP, etc Preferred: * Knowledge of best practices related to security, performance, and disaster recovery * Knowledge of Engineering methodology, Software Engineering principle and Application design * Bachelor's degree (computer science & engineering preferred) or related work experience * Systems Engineering experience working in complex enterprise environment * Demonstrated experience with implementation, management and operational support of WebSphere Portal environment * Demonstrated knowledge of WebSphere Portal Server architecture, components and tools * Demonstrated experience with Java support, tuning and troubleshooting * Fluent with a flavor of Unix type operating system (AIX is preferred) * Fluent with a flavor of Unix shell scripting (ksh and csh is preferred) * Experience with highly available WebSphere Portal Server cluster solutions * Experience in WebSphere Application Server application design and solution * Fluent with Design, Install, Configure and administration of IBM Lotus Connections, IBM Web Content Management, Adobe CQ5, Web Experience Factory 7 and IBM Tivoli Directory Server * Security experience (experience working in secure enterprise WebSphere environments)
