Database Administrator
Our client is located in Seattle, Washington and is looking for a bright, innovative, and highly organized SQL Database Administrator to join their growing team. The new Database Administrator will be responsible for leading the team in database modeling and maintenance for new and existing databases in high traffic, high availability SQL applications in a clustered environment. The DBA is ultimately responsible for reviewing all stored procedures, triggers and indexes written by Application Developers prior to moving them into a production environment. Optimum database performance for our stored procedures and applications is a priority. Duties and Responsibilities: Database team member covering the build, deployment, back-ups, and high availability of the online product offering Be responsible for ensuring availability and performance of the databases that support the system to include 24x7 'on call' support as required Work to ensure that the associated hardware resources are allocated to the databases and ensure high availability and performance tuning Proactively monitor the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum down-time Be responsible for providing trend analysis to management team to enable them to make informed decisions regarding resource management Be responsible for troubleshooting and problem solving of SQL development Be responsible for improvement and maintenance of the databases to include roll-out and upgrades Lead in all areas surrounding data, its security, integrity and availability Perform the configuration and set-up of databases and maintain the database performance criteria Create stored procedures and triggers and to assist the Application Developers with the development of optimum SQL applications Develop and maintain proper security of the database which includes access for changes, application access, and end-user interfaces The successful applicant will possess the following requirements (items are required unless noted otherwise): A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar field MS SQL Server Database Administration experience MCSE/MCDBA 2000/2005 or above is desired Experience managing multiple MS SQL 2005/2008 RDBMS on large systems in a clustered environment Proficient with database replication and able to tune to optimize replication Experience with MS SQL Integration Services is highly desired Experience with T SQL and DTS stored procedures Strong self-sufficiency and initiative working on Database projects Practical experience in managing the internal and external MS SQL Database Security Practical experience in monitoring and tuning a database to provide a high availability service Experience with MS SQL Reporting Services is highly desired Effective written and verbal communications Ability to convey technical issues and material to non-technical people Exceptional documentation skills are required Comfortable with new technologies in an ever changing environment Working with and designing of disaster recovery plans and testing strongly preferred Ability to pass a pre-employment background check Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States of America without sponsorship.
