Yoh has a contract opportunity for a Cobol Programmer / System Engineer to join our client in Herndon, VA. Job Responsibilities: - Maintain a system application under general supervision. - Design IT reporting solutions based on business need and technical considerations. - Position is responsible for supporting production application issues and questions. - Perform data corrections as needed (via an SQL update). - Monitor application performance and perform run time improvements as needed. - Position prepares user and technical documentation to support new or modified system processes as changes occur. Job Qualifications: - Five to ten years of development experience in Cobol programming language and a good understanding of JCL (Job Control Language). - Experience in general accounting principles and concepts. Ability to understand and provide solutions to accounting. - Ability to create SQL, programming queries, and extracts for ad-hoc reports. Should have a good understanding of Excel to create client-presentable ad-hoc reports. - Ability to quickly understand the application, data keys, and the data model structure / relation (DB2). - Excellent data analysis skills and ability to pick up and apply general property management terminology. - Strong working experience in mainframe environment and a minimum experience to a client server environment. - Ability to support on-call activities as needed. - Should have strong written and oral communication skills and have the ability to document changes and processes. - Strong system analysis, design, coding, debugging, and testing skills in a mainframe and client server environments is preferred. - Experience in XML formats and SQL / QMF query toolset is desired. - Experience in batch runtime or process improvement is desired. - Exposure to CMM concepts and practices is desired. - Ability to provide production support in regards to researching existing processes and providing analysis / response to client's questions is desired.
