This is a brand new team and position and a great ground floor opportunity. BASIC JOB FUNCTION: System Operators are responsible for monitoring server infrastructure, facilities infrastructure, responding to customer/employee/engineer escalations and addressing the alerts that are generated from the monitoring system. Responsible for monitoring production/UAT environments via e-mail or alerts, first level support of issues/alerts, communications with engineers/shift manager, managing conference bridge, validating new MOPs (Method of Procedure), suggesting new MOPs, monitor or manage backup jobs and responding to e-mails RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES 24x7 monitoring of all operational systems & network components Manage all incidents to include initial troubleshooting, conference bridge, timeline, start of RCA and completion of remediation Manage all customer escalations via e-mail, phone call or Self Help Heat ticket. Manage operations tools that are used in monitoring of the infrastructure Monitoring of facilities and datacenter infrastructure Monitor Production/UAT environments Works closely with Level 2 Operations to ensure SLAs are met Requirements and Qualifications: Good communication skills, both written and verbal Manage the day-to-day Data Centre Operations Manage the Data Centre Facilities including routine check of the facilities Ability to react quickly to issues and address them quickly by following method of procedures specific operations Must be able to work 12.5 hour shifts Problem escalation to support groups Maintain problem logs Batch processing Tape management (backup, tape rotation, off-site storage, initialization, etc) Perform System Backup and Recovery management Participate in disaster recovery operations Performing daily operational procedures (event suppression, update, etc) Perform basic trouble-shooting and services restarting in the event of service failures Event detection & 1st level support/troubleshooting of problem Must be capable of learning while experiencing extensive training and must be able to except change ITIL experience Solarwinds knowledge Ability to handle/track/write/communicate RCA documents Troubleshooting ability necessary EDUCATION: High School diploma required College or Technical degree preferred with a focus on Information Technology ITIL Certified preferred MCSE, Network, +A Certification or RHCE/Linux Certification Preferred EXPERIENCE: Minimum 2-3 years working experience in the area of IT Support 1+ years of operations experience preferred Need basic Win2K, Unix Administration and Networking skills Intermediate knowledge of Symantec/VERITAS Netbackup Must have good attitude & show keen interest in computer operations work Intermediate Knowledge of Solaris/Linux/AIX/Windows Operating Systems or Hitachi/NetApp infrastructure
