Richmond Vale Academy is looking for new development workers! We offer a B-certificate “Fighting with the Poor” at RVA in Saint-Vincent and the Grenadines. The B-certificate is an 18 months program, where we combine research with practical work in projects, as well in the Caribbean, as in the project in Latin America. The program is a cooperation between Richmond Vale Academy, One world University and Humana People to People. START DATES: October 15, 2012 and April 15, 2013 PROGRAM : 6 months Saint-Vincent : General development studies and concrete preparation for the work in the project, both practical as theoretical. 6 months Latin America : During this period you will work in one of the projects of Humana People to People, doing actual and concrete development work. 6 months Saint-Vincent : Sharing experiences with the world, applying what you’ve learned at the project to help the people in Saint-Vincent, final conclusions, studies and exams and planning the future. and we have another program [ GAIA ACTIVIST PROGRAM ] How do we best protect St. Vincent against Global Warming and Climate Change? START DATES: September 1, 2012 and March 1, 2013 DURATION: 6 months WHERE: Participants will live at the school on the island of St Vincent in the Caribbean. ACTIVITIES: Intensive studies about sustainability, organic farming, the importance of self-sufficiency in impoverished communities, the risks/effects of Global Warming and Climate Change in the Caribbean, etc. Through research, creation and implementation of projects in nearby villages, promotion, and by example, students will work to prepare the people of the Caribbean for the dangers of Global Warming. Participants will also experience community living, cooking, cleaning, harvesting food, garden farming, building furniture, and other skills needed to be a self-sufficient leader who can do anything they put their mind to. In the end, the program will train students to be environmental activists that are able to make a stand for the future of this world. The only demands are a high school degree and a decent knowledge of the English language, as it is the language you’ll use during the time at the school.
