Job Description Director - Lean Six Sigma Deployment Basking Ridge, NJ Our newly formed organization (Operational Excellence and Process Transformation) is designed to improve the value Verizon delivers to its customers, employees and shareowners by identifying and implementing process improvements that will create a more efficient, effective and agile company. The Director, Verizon Lean Six Sigma Deployment has the responsibility and accountability for the effective implementation of Lean Six Sigma and the achievement of the desired results on a business or function initiatives by coaching a nucleus of Business MBBs. This person will be recognized as an authority in Lean Six Sigma project deployments and a thought leader on how to execute complex business projects. He or She brings a wide variety of experience in implementing Lean Six Sigma and executing projects to successful closure. * This position will report to the Executive Director, VLSS Deployment * The scope of the work will include coaching senior executive business unit leaders and business level Lean Six Sigma leaders, down through Champion levels as well as external consultants * Lead a team of business MBBs and coach Business MBBs to be certified as MBBs * A significant change agent who not only leads by influence , but also takes ownership for business delivery along with the Business MBBs and BBs * Develops the overall Lean Six Sigma project execution strategy for business or function working with individual VLSS leaders and their business MBBs * Manages the expectations, anticipated results and annual planning specific to Lean Six Sigma * Be a coach to business executives on Lean Six Sigma * Proactively supports and leads the deployment of the Lean Six Sigma effort in harmony with the overall business vision for the most benefit to the business * Develop project closure criteria and hand off process for non-standard projects * Develop project best practice sharing process and implementation of best ideas across enterprise * Holds periodic, focused, Lean Six Sigma reviews with Lean Six Sigma leadership team to assess the progress, status and issues in the effective application of Lean Six Sigma * Supports business Lean Six Sigma leaders on complex projects, help start up the business or Functional specific deployment * Acts as an executive consultant on various business needs on business process excellence Required Skills & Experience * Proven leadership skills and business acumen to manage ambiguity and create a disciplined outcome. * Proven experience in Lean Six Sigma deployment and project execution * A change agent * A quick learner to assimilate company's strategies and change philosophies, company's core value streams as well as the primary products and services * Excellent presentation skills with solid communication capabilities and practices, both oral and written * Understands and appreciates the application and power of analytical techniques and data driven decision making * Skillful in relationship building and negotiating, and will demonstrate a strong "can do" attitude * Demonstrated complex program management for Lean Six Sigma * A certified MBB or a BB with proven track record * College degree in engineering, business, or technical discipline or equivalent work experience (First consideration will be given to those candidates that hold a college degree) * A Graduate degree highly desirable * Proven record of performance and trusted professional credibility Industry: Telecommunications-operations
