Our client, based in Derby, is looking for an Assistant Accountant to join their team on a contractual basis for a minimum of 6 months. It is essential that you have experience in a similar role and that you possess a hardworking and enthusiastic attitude towards accounts and learning from those around you. The successful candidate will be a self motivated and personable candidate who can deal with the majority, if not all of the duties listed below; - To assist the Management Accountant in preparing monthly trial balance in order to produce a set of management accounts - Reconciling the balance sheet control accounts, posting nominal journals, and accruals & prepayments - To assist the Management Accountant in the month-end reporting process - Ensure reporting deadlines are met - Operating and maintaining all aspects of purchase ledger and sales ledger - To agree inter-company balances at month end and process and invoice intercompany recharges - Assisting with the preparation of annual budget and five year plan - Completing the cashbook journal and the bank reconciliation at month-end - To complete VAT Return, EC sales list and intrastate - Assisting with year-end external audits and internal audits - To manage the fixed asset register - To assist the Management Accountant with collations of ad-hoc information - General accounting duties It is vital that you have strong Excel skills up to pivot tables and V-Look ups as well as practical knowledge of Sage.
