TITLE: Business Analyst, Business Intelligence / Business/System Analyst LOCATION: Hartford CT. Contract – W2 – 6 months DETAILS Our Insurance client is looking for a Business Analyst to join the Business Intelligence Competency Center (BACC) in Claim Business Intelligence & Analytics (CBI&A). This person will provide Business Intelligence expertise to a wide range of challenging projects and will work closely with Claim Product Management, CBI&A colleagues, and Information Technology to provide new BI capabilities to our business partners. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: -Support as the Business Analyst complex, multifaceted Business Intelligence claim projects -Elicit, synthesize and document requirements on business intelligence initiatives -Partner with the BACC leads to identify Business Intelligence needs and consult on Business Intelligence solutions to complex business problems -Coordinate and execute user acceptance testing of new and existing Business Intelligence capabilities -Participate in continual improvement of the Delivery Methodology, tools and techniques as they apply to requirements and user acceptance testing in the Business Intelligence domain - Apply expert knowledge of Business Intelligence capabilities, processes, and tools to business issues EDUCATION / WORK EXPERIENCE: -Minimum of 5-8 years of Business Analyst experience -Minimum of 5 years of Business Intelligence experience preferred -PC Insurance, Claim, and/or operations experience preferred -BS or BA degree or equivalent experience COMPETENCIES: Leadership -Ability to work independently or as part of a team -Serves as a coach for more junior business analysts -Influences outcomes on assignments Problem Solving/Analytical/Decision Making -Demonstrates analytic and critical thinking skills -Initiates actions and takes responsibility for decisions -Detail-oriented Communication Skills -Highly effective in written and verbal communications with proven ability to communicate to business and IT partners -Strong listening skills -Strong collaboration skills Planning/Project Management -Largely self directed -Ability to plan and prioritize business analyst deliverables and execute plan efficiently -Solid time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines -Able to participate in multiple projects while meeting deadlines Technology -Proficient knowledge of business intelligence analysis -Working knowledge of data warehousing practices and Business Intelligence tools -MS Office, Delivery Methodology and Requirements Specification template expertise -Working knowledge of Business Intelligence Tools (Cognos, Microstrategy, Microsoft analysis services)
