We are ReviewRoc.com, an online platform that will redefine academic peer review and networking for students. You could think of us as a Facebook/Scribd for students. We aim to solve three major problems with this platform: The first problem is students having no open arena in which to showcase their academic works, which means they don't really have an awareness of the standards of their peers and we think this limits their academic perspective and engagement. Secondly, we are convinced that students don't get nearly enough feedback on their creative or academic outputs as they deserve. In this sense, feedback is usually limited to teachers and lecturers and rarely sourced from peers, who we argue are one of the best sources of knowledge and understanding (think study groups, seminars and how much is not understood in lectures, but consequently understood through peers afterward). Finally, we haven't found a platform that allows students to build an academic network based on a medium of interaction (i.e their work). Sure we have Facebook, but that won't encourage you to connect with a student who studies the same course as you at another institution, and we all know that Linkedin is for professionals. So this is where ReviewRoc comes in, to create Perspective, Peer Review system and Networking Opportunities. But we can't do this without a fantastic programmer who shares this vision. We want you to build the first iteration, a sort of free trial version to get users to see how and if it works for them. This is really a calling for another entrepreneur, with as much passion for redefining academic social sharing as us (and the technical prowess to make it happen) If that's you, we'd love to meet you.
