Construction Manager (Electrical/Substations)
The Construction Manager is required to work alongside the appointed Contractors to ensure the works are delivered in accordance with the project programme in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. The role is predominantly site based with some travel to Glasgow, Edinburgh and Perth required. Key Responsibilities will include: 1. Contract management of NEC contracts and application on site 2. Provision of guidance to the Contractor when required and the raising of issues to the Construction Manager as appropriate 3. Review of Contractor plans and method statements - OHS, EMP, Quality Plan, Commissioning Plan, etc. 4. Input to the CDM process and leading by example at all times in health and safety on site 5. Inspections of work undertaken by the Contractor and issuing of instruction to correct if required 6. Monitoring the Contractor's OHS and environmental performance 7. Undertaking audits of the Contractor's working methods and quality management systems 8. Input as required to project management issues including risk management, value management, community engagement, etc." Skills and qualifications required for the role are: 1. Experience in working with the NEC form of large value construction contracts (in particular fulfilling the responsibilities of the Employer's Supervisor) 2. A thorough understanding of the legal responsibilities of the Construction Manager role 3. Experience in performing the Client's Site Representative role under the CDM 2007 Regulations 4. A formal site supervision qualification 5. A formal health and safety management qualification (NEBOSH, IOSH or similar) 6. The ability to work with a Contractor team to drive construction activities to time and budget 7. The ability to work with limited supervision and to contribute to the wider project team as required 8. Demonstrate a pro-active approach to problem solving and the ability to develop successful working relationships" Ideally you will have construction experience with Electrical Transmission and Distribution voltages from 132 kV to 400 kV.
