Custom VBulletin Programming for Simplified Chinese Installation - MySQL Vbulletin PHP Database
We currently operate a Simplified Chinese VBulletin website. The back-end is in English, but all the posts, forums, and public areas are in Simplified Chinese. Anytime a new post is created in Simplified Chinese, unwanted characters are added to the output. Please see this example url with a test post from us: /showthread.php?t=5&page=2 We suggest viewing with Firefox or Internet Explorer preferably to see the problem. Within the Simplified Chinese, you will see three small boxes that get in the way of understanding the post. These 3 boxes were not part of the text entered. They are in the way of people trying to read the post successfully. Our database is in UTF-8 general collation. Access to our database server can be granted upon proposal approval. VBulletin Version: vBulletin 3.8.1 Patch Level 1 Simplified Chinese Lanuage Pack: 3.8.x PHP: 5.1.6 We need someone to: 1.) Identify what is causing the problem. 2.) Explain why the problem is happening. 3.) Provide corrective steps that will prevent it happening in the future. Note, if it is impossible to correct old data, a solution that ensures the boxes will not appear in future posts is acceptable. 4.) Explain in detail how to fix the problem so that we can fix it ourselves in the future if necessary. 5.) Provide any other miscellaneous suggestions for improving VBulletin compatibility with Simplified Chinese language and post creation. We prefer to hire firms with in-depth experience handling VBulletin 3.x and foreign language implementations with UTF-8 general database collation.
