Systems Development Engineer
Job Description: DHG platform hardware team is looking for a System Engineer to assist in the design, development, and testing of system products, proof of concepts (POCs), and other hardware (components, boards, mechanisms, circuitry, processes, packages, peripherals) associated with Digital Home initiatives and goals. The candidate will work with other System and Hardware engineers as well as other development team members in various capacities to achieve program and departmental goals and objectives, utilizing understanding of engineering principles and practical applications. Responsibilities -Researching, assessing viability and applicability of, specifying, and securing system components for programs and POCs. -Working alongside engineers and technicians to design, develop, assemble, test, and debug hardware and systems. -Engaging with suppliers in support of prototyping / fabrication of designs. -Working closely with product designers to resolve issues and product performance and operational requirements are met. -Interacting with SW engineers and vendors to obtaining the appropriate SW drivers, OS, and BIOS components for system operation. -Documenting system specifications, block diagrams, BOMs, schematics, implementation requirements, BKMs, test results. Qualifications -Education: Bachelor of Science degree in hardware related field and 5+ years experience in circuit board and system level design and development. -Demonstrated understanding of the fundamental electrical, software, and mechanical engineering principles involved in circuit and system design. -2 years hands-on experience in basic hardware technical skills, including assembly, debug, and test equipment. -Working knowledge of system components and peripherals as well as BIOS and driver interactions/interdependencies is a plus. -Experience with product environmental requirements and methods, including thermals, acoustics, power management, ESD and others. -Linux experience is a plus -Effective communication skills, written and verbal essential for success. Ability to communicate well with non-US manufacturers and customers a plus.
