I have hired 3 Elance graphic illustrators; my first contractor was a good experience but she was not able to finish the project to completion because of family obligations. The last two contractors were unsatisfactory because they either did not consider my project a priority and would take days to respond to my communication and or did not understand the scope of the project before beginning work, thus creating unusable, but billable work. I am looking for a responsible contractor who enjoys the process of creating and not just looking for a quick buck. Perhaps my budget is too low ($14 - $16 an hour), I do not know. Job: Finish editing sketches of characters then complete a black and white only vector for each. Attached is an Excel status worksheet color coded to detail the stages of each character. If there is an image embedded in the worksheet, I already have a vector file for it, so it would be preferable if the revisions were completed from the vectored image, which are uploaded in another Elance workroom. If this first project goes well there will be plenty more work; animal characters, after ALL the vector images are complete (about 25-30 total), there will be more work in completing the color process of each character for the final product "line". Also, I will need help finishing a draft of a sales flyer. Please ask what questions you need to give a completed quote. I would prefer to work each project separately (more for the contractor's benefit). Also would like a FIXED PRICE per project as opposed to rate per hour and an open ended number of hours per week. Despite my lack of luck finding a contractor to finish this entire project, I am a very reasonable and fair customer. So if a project is expanded because I have asked for more than originally was bid, pricing and work time is negotiable so everyone feels the trade was a win and we will want to continue working together…. Through to the focus group, then feedback revisions, then to a final printable product ready for a soft launch…. TO THE END. I am more likely to choose a contractor who is open to a verbal conversation in addition to email correspondence. It will be easier for me to relay my goals and share my concept, thus helping the contractor with the ENTIRE creative process and total retail sales value of the product.
