Design - Help Skim That with a new website design
Organization name Skim That Description of the organization and its target audience Skim That is a site for summarized top news stories of the day. Members can vote and comment on the stories they like. My target audience is similar to Reddit, Digg. People who like reading popular news of the day. Industry Technology Existing website to reference http://skimthat.com/2590/ecuador-wi…ssy-london Number of pages needed 1 Page descriptions I'm mainly looking to have the site re-skinned. Meaning, the header, navigation, side bar, login box above, etc. should be the same size. I'm looking to have the graphics/colors changed, not necessarily the layout. The page and content area sizes should stay the same. The logo "Skim That" and tagline "Top news, summarized by the community." should be the same size but the colors and effect can be different. The navigation should be the same size and set as a bar (as opposed to tabs) but the colors, dividers can be changes. The voting arrow can change in color and size but should remain in the same place on the page (to the left of the title). There's a gear icon that, when clicked on, reveals extra options. That icon can change, if you like, but it should stay the same size and be in the same place. The window the opens with the extra options should also be adjusted to fit the new theme. **Sidebar** The right side bar should be redesigned (not just reskinned) to have the text description of the site flow into the email subscription form. It's important that the part starting from "Top News, Real Fast!" until the "Start" button be designed as one unit that gently focuses the eye towards the email subscription form. The "start" button design should allow me to shrink or expand it to any size so I can change the text to something else if I need to. The text should also be HTML editable. The "You can also follow skim that here" section with the social icons should be it's own segment, distinct from the rest of the sidebar. The quotes and pictures from the founder and editor should also be segmented slightly. ***This just in box*** The box displaying a new message should also only be skinned. Meaning, change the colors (and the "this just in" graphic if necessary) but leave the placement of all the items the same. The "This just in" part can be a graphic but everything else must be plain text I can implement in HTML. ***Vote: Is this complete, accurate & concise?*** The checkboxes need to be redesigned. It'll need a states for mouse over, enabled, disabled, "yes" and "no" vote (ie green for yes, red for no). **Can you improve this summary** You can change the layout completely so long as the text stays the same. **Footer** You have the freedom to do anything you like with the footer. **other** make sure to create an account so you can see what the header looks like after you log in. There's also an error box that opens if you're not a confirmed user. Have a look at how the page looks AFTER you create an account but BEFORE you confirm your account so you can see how it looks. Style/theme ideas for the website None specified. What to avoid No tabs for the header. All text, including the tagline and button, should be HTML text. The only exceptions are the logo and the "This just in" text. Inspirational websites http://www.quicksprout.com/2012/06/…-rankings/ I like how the "Free course" box in the sidebar is built. It has the information and email subscription as a single unit while also pointing the readers attention down to the email form. http://macthemes.net/ I like the blue header and brown background colors. The yellow accent in the pencil is nice too. Notes The PSD should have clearly labeled and well organized layers. I'd also like a favicon and apple touch icon built with the new color scheme. The new one can resemble the old one exactly except that it matches the new colors. Current apple touch icon http://skimthat.com/qa-theme/SkimTh…00x200.jpg Current favicon http://skimthat.com/favicon.ico Thanks you for taking the time to submit a design!
