MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB: To develop and deliver ‘best in class’ commercially viable products from approved product brief to concept sign off supporting the NPD Product Development Manager / NPD Controller POSITION IN ORGANISATION: Member of the site NPD team, reporting into the NPD Product Development Manager or NPD Senior Product Developer. PHYSICAL CONDITIONS OF ROLE: Primary kitchen based with work in chilled environments Travel will be required to other sites / supplier / customers and for comparative shopping Handling and preparation of food Product development • To work to generate product concepts in line with NPD Briefs • To formulate product concepts in line with specific briefs, ensuring factory capability is considered • To use the costing tool to ensure product concepts are developed to a target raw material cost • To source new raw materials and specifications in conjunction with procurement and technical • To ensure that the specifications are checked by the technical team before the ingredient is used • To prepare / co-ordinate product samples and recipe / raw material / nutritional information for customer presentations • To carry out, document and action conduct taste panels, comp shopping and product benchmarking of concepts versus competitor products if required • To ensure that customer codes of practice are adhered to • To assist the Product Manager and or Senior Product Developer with internal concept meetings and customer concept presentations as required • To plan and organise workload to achieve demanding deadline • To create and maintain product files for all new products in accordance with procedure • To achieve ‘working at pace’ & delivery of smart objectives • To ensure good housekeeping is adhered to in all development areas • To complete all relevant and necessary paperwork accurate and in a timely manner Customer Relationship Management • To manage, develop and maintain the relationship between Daniels Group and all Retailers through the effective communication with the Retailer Product Developers and Retailer Technologists throughout the development process. • To man mark and manage the Retailer Product Developers and Retailer Technologists ensuring that we have a consolidated and consistent approach. • Maintain customer communication throughout the development procedure • Organise dates and agendas for site visits.
