As the Data Warehouse / ETL Developer in Boston, Massachusetts you will perform activities related to the design, development and maintenance of the company's Information Warehouse (IW) in conformity with customer, Application Office and IT standards and procedures. The company's IW is the primary source for their reporting financial, payroll, and human resource data. Specific tasks will be assigned by the IW Managers within the Enterprise Application Office (IT). The Developer will perform duties necessary for the following: design and development of Informatica ETL mappings and workflows, coding and documentation of scripts and stored procedures and generation of reporting tables and views, and will be expected to provide direction to IW developers. Tasks include but are not limited to: * Become proficient on all aspects of the current IW environment * Become proficient in the current Informatica ETL job streams * Build ETL streams to validate data loads * Assist in the migration of current Informatica ETL job streams to the new ETL environment and make the necessary changes to ensure that incremental and a data transfer jobs work as expected * Assist in the tuning of the new Informatica job streams to reduce daily load time * Code and unit test modules/programs following program specifications and standards * Unit testing including: documenting the test plan and documenting results of executing the test plan and, if necessary develop data test sets * Participate in various testing assignments including the development of detailed test plans * Bug fixes and support end users during User Acceptance and rollout of the solution Specific Requirements (required unless noted otherwise): * An understanding of Netezza, a data warehouse appliance, and SQL Server or Oracle databases is highly desired * Experience working as a data warehouse designer or developer using Netezza appliance technologies, Microsoft SQL Server, Informatica (ETL) mappings and workflows or similar ETL tools * The ability to develop or support programs using SQL and knowledge of one or more of the following: Informatica or similar ETL tool and Cognos or similar business intelligence tool * A comprehensive understanding of the concepts and fundamentals of database structures and data warehousing, including dimensional modeling, metadata, data cleansing, security, technical standards and performance tuning * An understanding of data warehouse platforms and SQL Server or Oracle database management systems * The ability to design a solution that clearly and efficiently addresses the business objectives identified and to create software architecture documents and models according to the system development methodology * Experience with a systems development life cycle methodology is highly desired * Experience with all phases of testing including unit, system, integration parallel, performance and user acceptance testing in highly desired * Experience with job scheduling software (Cybermation) is desired * Experience in using open source solutions and tools are desired * Knowledge of open standards is desired * Keep up to date on job related technical issues, new trends and product directions and be a resource for other team members * Public sector experience is preferred
