Senior Infrastructure Developer

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Infrastructure Developer. This is a contract position located in Manchester. The rates are £200 to £250. The job description is as follows: Evaluate and recommend the effectiveness of solutions to meet requirements Install, develop and maintain specific items of software according to business plans and to agreed standards and service level requirements. Develop monitoring processes for the technical infrastructure to support business objectives (eg. Performance, capacity to change and problem management). Undertake the planning, implementation and documentation of technical projects with minimum supervision, controlling work allocation to staff where appropriate. Provide advice and guidance when working with less experienced colleagues on any area related to own technical expertise. Provide ongoing technical support for the production and/or development environments and deal effectively with technical problems when they occur (including cover out of hours where appropriate). Provide technical support and advice to both technical and business users, applying specific technical expertise particularly in more complexes or less common situations. Work with colleagues and users on various areas of the life-cycle of technical projects, producing documentation to required standards. Undertake or participate in technical evaluations and make recommendations on specific items of systems software and / or hardware as required. Previous experience as a fully competent Infrastructure Developer in the Microsoft technology set along with some knowledge of managing Windows environments from the command line. Important Skills Windows Server Administration (NT4 -> Windows 2008 R2) Scripting capability (Batch/CMD, Vbscript, Powershell is very much a nice to have) Troubleshooting and support for IIS and web applications hosted by it written in .NET and ASP. Good understanding of IT security principles Knowledge of Active Directory & Group Policy Knowledge of networking principals, troubleshooting TCP/IP(load balancers, firewalls, NLB) Server patching Technical documentation SSL and certificates Knowledge of Virtualization (VMWare) Good to have Skills Basic SQL Server DBA skills Microsoft ADAM management skills SM7 change control and LBG Change processes. Veritas Clustering Knowledge Areas An understanding of relevant and related technologies and their application within a business environment. High level of problem solving skills and ability to assimilate complex technical information together with good planning skills. Ability to co-ordinate the activities of other technical staff. Organisational awareness. Key Skills and Knowledge Areas To be able to work from a high level, scoped objective with minimal supervision, taking full responsibility for all technical decision making within area of specialisation. To be able to work alone on complex projects or take a lead technical role with a small team of colleagues giving technical advice to others and providing feedback. To be familiar with all applicable tools, procedures and methods. To have a working knowledge of Service Management processes. To have good oral and written communication skills.
