We are looking to have a website built on top of a content management system. We have a prototype built with WordPress, but we will accept solutions built with WordPress, Joomla, or Drupal. For those interested in using Drupal: /node/155489 All of the pages in this solution should be easily skinnable by the website owners. They should be able to change the page layout/organization by editing some basic html, jsp, or other script files. The pages of the website will be as follows: NEWS ------ This will be the home page, and it will just show excerpts of blog articles that are created by the website owner. Clicking on one of the excerpts will show the entire article. The articles should be easy to create via the standard blog editing software that is part of the content management system. CONTACTS ------- This is a simple page whose entire contents should be editable by the website owner. ABOUT ------- Just like Contacts, this is just a blank page editable via the CMS software. ARTISTS --------- This top level menu item will have a drop down menu showing the names of every artist in the database. Clicking an artist will take you to the artist page. If you click the Artists top level menu (and not one of the child pages) it will show a page listing each artist. Each artist will have a thumbnail, the artist name, and a brief bio/excerpt. ARTIST PAGE ----------- An individual artist page will have a facebook-like timeline image as a header. Then we would like the content that is entered for an artist to be a display of fields defined by the website owner. For example, he might create fields called Biography, Website Links, etc. We used a Wordpress plugin called Custom Field Template in our prototype that worked well. The artist page will also display each "PRODUCT" created for that artist. A product could be a CD, tshirt, etc. It will only display the thumbnail and the title of the product. Click on the product will take you to a product page. PRODUCT PAGE ------------ The product page will display the title, product description, image, price, options (for example CD, Vinyl, DVD). The price might change with each option. There will be an Add To Cart Button. We need a full ecommerce system that supports Paypal checkout. This should NOT be built from scratch. We used a free product called WP-E Commerce in our prototype that seemed to work well. Drupal users can use Ubercart. STORE ------ The store menu item should show a page with every product listed. Clicking on a product here would take you to the product page. There should be a Check Out sub menu item that takes you through the checkout process. HEADER ------- The website header should have an mp3 player in it. Each page can configure the song(s) that show up in the player. The home page might have a variety of songs while each artist page might have a list of songs just for that artist. Icons for Facebook, Soundcloud, Twitter, and YouTube should be linked to the owner's corresponding accounts. Although this sounds like a lot, we believe most of this is easily created as its an exercise in layout via the CMS system.
