Customer Service Representative
Since 1948, Prairie Material has supplied leading builders with ready mix concrete and aggregate for commercial, industrial, residential, road and bridge projects. Prairie materials form the core of major structures throughout the Midwest, including Trump Tower Chicago, the Milwaukee Art Museum Addition and MillenniumPark. Today, Prairie employs 1,100 professionals in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin and we are currently looking for a part time Customer Service Representative to join our very successful and hardworking team! The ideal candidate will be a self starter able to work independently, show great attention to detail, be thorough and organized and able to be flexible to handle a variety of challenging and routine tasks. This position is part time (20 – 30 hours/week) temporary, with a potential for becoming full time. Summary: To provide prompt, efficient customer service and coordinate the needs of the customer with the availability of the company’s product and fleet. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Answering incoming customer calls. Taking, and inputting orders into the computer system. Assisting customers with problems. Coordinating the customers delivery needs with our fleet availability. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Language Skills: Ability to read, interpret technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from a group of managers, clients, customers and the general public. (Bi-Lingual Preferred) Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to everyday business situations. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with “concrete” variables. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where standardization exists. Other Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of concrete properties and performance (preferred). Behavioral Traits: Trust, Tact, Empathy, Conformity, Focus, Flexibility, proficient in Vocabulary of the industry Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Spreadsheet (Excel) software and Word Processing software.
