MEDICAL RECORDS CLERK - MRC 6 25 12 - Syracuse NY
A Large Multi-Specialty Medical Practice is seeking a Medical Records Clerk or Health Information Technician. Recent work experience of at least one year is required. * LOCATED in the center of New York State, the city of Syracuse (Population 156k city and county 467k) is in the beautiful Finger Lakes Region which includes many Resorts, Casinos, and close to Lake Ontario, Lake Oneida, the St. Lawrence River, the Adirondack Mountains and the Thousand Islands. Plus HEALTH CARE Benefits. * JOB TYPE is Temporary to Permanent, full-time. Forty (40) hours per week. * WORK SCHEDULE is week days, 8:30am to 5pm. Monday through Friday. * EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED is a high school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of one year experience at a front desk in a medical office setting required with strong patient check-in skills. * JOB DESCRIPTION: (other duties may be assigned): 1. Greet patients in a cordial, professional matter, at all times. 2. Receive and record patients check-in. 3. Obtain new patient referrals via telephone. 4. Enter patient demographics into computer system including information pertaining to competing patient registration. 5. Update patient information and insurance information, when applicable. 6. Collect co-pays from patients and record transaction. 7. Secure referral permission for procedures. 8. Schedule appointments for procedures including prescribed labs and testing. 9. Retrieving and preparing patient charts. * BENEFITS: Health care insurance is provided at employee’s expense when hired on a temporary basis. Also offered is direct deposit at no expense to employee and a Simple IRA plan (100% vested from day one at a 3% Employer match). Upon permanent hire basis (retained employee), there are three health care plans to choose from as well as dental and vision plans. Vacation, personal and sick time accrual begins immediately on a biweekly basis. Retirement plan provided with employer contribution.
