Permanent - Gloucester UK Senior Product Designer – VARIOUS FORMS OF PLASTIC TRANSFORMATION (I.E. INJECTION, STRUCTURAL FOAM, ROTATIONAL & THERMOFORMING) Our client is a leader and innovator in 'One-Touch/Retail Ready Packaging', who provides transit packaging/replenishment solutions and merchandising units to retail clients and their supply chains worldwide. Operating within a large and successful international business, you will be part of a product design team based in Gloucester UK that works closely with both our customers and suppliers. You will deliver a highly professional product design service for our demanding customer base in the retail/logistic sector across the UK and mainland Europe. Reporting to the Design and Development Manager, this exciting opportunity to manage projects from initial concept through prototyping and pre production to final product launch ideally requires: • Industrial and structural, or packaging design qualifications to degree level • Minimum 5 years product design experience, ideally in the plastic injection moulding industry. • The flair and imagination to create new ideas and drive them through to practical reality • Experience of CAD and design software packages (ideally Solidworks & Catia) • Produce illustrations and materials for marketing and promotional use • Effective project management skills with proven ability to meet tight deadlines • Excellent communication skills ideally supported by a second language • The ability to work both independently and as part of a project team • Ability to guide and mentor junior members of the team Liaison with senior management, market managers, trade suppliers and customers is required in order to ensure that all information needed is available, and that realistic schedule are agreed and maintained for completion of designs / concepts, for approval. The position also requires a close working relationship with mould and manufacturing sub contractors to ensure product specifications are adhered to and projects are delivered on time and within budget. There will be some limited overseas travel involved in this position, both to our manufacturing plants in Europe, international supply base and also to international customers.
