Manufacturing Engineer
My client, at the forefront of the Aerospace market worldwide, and are consistently developing and surpassing current industry standards. Due to continued commercial growth and success they are currently recruiting for a Manufacturing Engineer, based in Huyton, on a contract basis for an initial period of 6 Months. With previous experience in the role a Manufacturing Engineer will have the following roles/responsibilities: * Delivery and implementation of Manufacturing Engineering projects (preparation of manufacturing documentation, CNC programmes and capability studies). * Work to meet program milestones to schedule and budget within a cross functional team. * Develop manufacturing processes, ensuring all tooling / gauging and appropriate systems and process are available on time. * Responsible for the module teams and technician's understanding and compliance of all customer requirements. * Identify all customer quality requirements. * Develop working practices that are appropriate to a Lean manufacturing environment including Lean events and Risk Assessments. Due to the specific nature of the role, you will require the following experience: * Excellent planning skills plus the ability to read engineering drawings and CMM reports in order to plan a method of manufacture to meet all drawing requirements is essential * Strong programming and machine operational skills are required; particularly for Fanuc, Mazak and Okuma controls for CNC 3, 4 or 5 Axis machines. Knowledge of CAD/CAM packages would be advantageous, although training on specific packages will be available * A thorough understanding of machining processes, applications and materials is needed particularly Milling, Grinding, Turning, Gear Cutting. Knowledge of special processes e.g. Heat treatment and Plating would be advantageous * Experience of proving out, fixture design and tooling drawing is required * Knowledge of lean manufacturing methods is needed * An understanding of cost control, cost accounting, working within budgets plus a strong drive for results is required * Good IT literacy skills are needed * Ability to manage projects, set priorities, multi task and manage time is essential. Knowledge of new product introduction (NPI) would be advantageous * A strong foundation in Environment Health and Safety is essential * Applicants must hold an apprenticeship (or equivalent) in a manufacturing engineering discipline In order to fulfil this challenging position it is likely that you will have completed a recognised degree or relevant work experience. This contract will run for 6 months initially and for your efforts and services you will be rewarded with a competitive rate of pay and a stable workload in the current economic climate.
