Position Description: The Data Center Operations Engineer has the opportunity to work with new technologies and state-of-the-art equipment, while supporting a major software corporation within an enterprise class data center. The Technician provides the hands-on support, performing tasks such as: Hardware, software and network troubleshooting Server Imaging Configuration Rebuild Decommissions Technicians perform routine and emergency requests through Service Request tickets, as a member of a Service Team supporting 24x7x365 on-site coverage. This position includes customer interaction that requires excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills, as well as exceptional technical capabilities. Additionally, this position operates in close unity with his/her Shift Lead to ensure seamless delivery of service. The roles are primarily focused upon local ticket work, communication with the customer and incident reporting, with appropriate feedback. Duties and Responsibilities: Perform: Tasks as assigned with minimal supervision. Tasks within a collaborative team environment. Ticket Management, as required. Server Administrative tasks. Network Cable Installation and Removal to support Infrastructure needs. Server and Rack Maintenance, as assigned. Inventory Maintenance for Information Management support. Server Operating System and Application Imaging/Installation. System Firmware and ROM Maintenance. Tape Backup Maintenance. Provide troubleshooting support for Servers, Infrastructure and Network devices. Diagnose and repair: Server errors Infrastructure issues Network Connectivity problems Install/upgrade/replace server, device or network components as needed. Install/replace/remove servers, devices and networking equipment. Verify, reserve and provision network resources. This is an open-ended contingent / temporary position in Durham, NC, through Volt Workforce Solutions, based in Raleigh, NC. Requirements: Required Skills for this Data Center Operations Engineer position include the following: 2-4 years of experience within Data Centers and/or related IT fields AA degree or equivalent experience In-depth experience with troubleshooting and installing Windows Operating Systems, networking equipment and software In-depth experience troubleshooting Proliant servers and server components such as Motherboards, Array Controllers and Network Cards, Processors, Memory and SCSI 2+ years of experience: Supporting, administrating and/or troubleshooting Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Using Network Connectivity technology including TCP/IP, WINS, DHCP and DNS Experience with Altiris or related Imaging Solution applications Experience troubleshooting large LAN and WAN networks with strong understanding of OSI model Experienced supporting RAID technology Experience with/Understanding of Ticket Management software Flexibility to support shift coverage, including overnight support shifts Able to lift devices weighing up to 50 pounds Server+, Network+, MCP towards 2003 MCSE certifications required; A+ certification desired Physical Demands and Work Environment Possibility of working overnight shift Must also be able to work 12-hour shifts (depending upon the site) as well as flexible days, including holidays and weekends Work site has refrigerated environment and no windows during the period of work Must be able to lift 50 pounds Must also be able to work standing, walking distances, and/or sitting in front of a computer for extended hours How to Apply: Please email your resume to Volt at: resumeNC304083@volt.com and reference the following job number and job title in your subject line to ensure it gets routed to the correct Recruiter to readily discuss this job with you: 304083-9823-12-303294 - Data Center Operations Engineer and include the website name where you saw this posting listed.
