Intermediate Computer Programmer
Duties: Must be capable of translating detail program flowcharts into program-coded instructions used by third- and fourth-generation, such as the Microsoft Windows or current state-of-the-art computers. Education: A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical discipline and three (3) years of equivalent experience in a related field. A Master’s Degree in one of the above disciplines equals one year specialized and two years general experience. General Experience: Must have three (3) years of computer programming work experience. Specialized Experience: At least one (1) year of experience in developing applications using advanced technologies, such as Internet protocols and web-based technologies. This includes research, design, program, test, document, and implement sound business systems solutions. The .NET/SQL programmer will also analyze and correct software errors and make program enhancements, in a timely and accurate fashion, providing status reports where required. RESPONSIBILITIES: ð Perform MS-SQL Server DBA functions ð Assist developers, analysts, and designers in conceptualizing and development of new software programs and applications in ASP.NET and similar tools ð Assist in the preparation and documentation of program requirements and specifications ð Research and document User requirements ð Consistently write, translate, and code software programs and applications according to our Standards ð Run and monitor software performance tests on new and existing programs for the purposes of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging ð Administer critical analysis of test results and deliver solutions to problem areas ð Generate reports for management and/or team members from MS-SQL database ð Assist in the development and maintenance of user manuals and guidelines ð Install software products for end users as required ð Write programming scripts to enhance functionality and/or appearance of company Web site and/or related Web applications as necessary ð Recommend, schedule, and perform software improvements and upgrades ð Liaise with network administrators, systems analysts, and software engineers to assist in resolving problems with software products or client software systems TECHNICAL SKILLS: ð Must be experienced in Visual Basic, Visual Studio .NET, ASP, and ASP.NET ð Solid working knowledge of current Internet technologies, including HTTP, XML, DHTML, SOAP, SSL, SSIS, Active-X controls, stored-procedures, packages, etc. ð Must have experience with MS SQL Server 2000-2008 ð Must have experience with MS Office XP-2010 Suite ð Hands-on software troubleshooting experience ð Must be flexible and adaptable in regards to learning and understanding new technologies ð Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws ð Strong written and oral communication skills and strong interpersonal skills ð Technically proficient and highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail ð Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities ð Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment ð Experienced in working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment Work Conditions: ð Work Locations: a) Downtown Silver Spring, MD – Main Office b) Downtown Baltimore, MD – Client Office (Occasional - of about twice a month - visit may be needed to this location) c) Work-From-Home* – Working from home may be arranged for a very good programmer
