unix administrator Dallas, TX Unix Administrator whose primary responsibility will include installing, securing and maintaining servers, storage and network connectivity within a complex infrastructure. JOB SUMMARY: • Operating System and third party software installation, upgrades and maintenance • Installation of hardware and software • Maintenance and setup of file systems • Resolve software problems with operating systems or third party products • File System and Database Backups/restores • Performance Monitoring • Maintain system security • Configuration management • Storage management, system recovery, network communications, and performance management • Manage projects and remediation efforts • Work closely with teams • Report on environment metrics • Create and document standards • Provide solid technical solutions • Solaris Packages and RPM maintenance and participate in patch management • Responsible for troubleshooting servers and OS problems • Organize and manage hardware repairs The following are a list of overall skills desired : 7+ years with the following skill sets: • Must have proven experience with installing and implementing Solaris, RedHat Linux • SFHARAC, ASM Knowledge of a clustering software (Veritas or Sun) is required • Experience with SAN Storage Systems • Experience with external storage (SAN/NAS) is required from server • Knowledge of proxy service, naming services (LDAP, DNS etc.) is needed • System Tuning • Automation, Scripting • File system management including ZFS,UFS , VXVM • Patch Management • Must have IPMP and Power Path • Any high availability concept/knowledge will be a big plus (i.e. Local Datacenter, HA or DR across multiple DC.)
