Newport City Council Customer & Information Services Applications Analyst Ref: IS132 Ceisiadau Dadansoddwr £27,849 - £30,011 (Fixed term for 18 months) The council's IT service is based in the Civic Centre and has over 50 staff supporting over 150 sites and more than 3000 users. Most council sites are connected to the corporate network running over high speed circuits to the Civic Centre, providing access to e-mail, internet and to 200+ different applications. The role of Applications Analyst will support new requirements around IT service delivery. Qualified to degree standard or with equivalent technical experience, you will have at least two years technical administration experience and be responsible for the development, implementation and support of applications and related technical services. This will include database management and support of the council's large scale applications and storage. As part of a technical team you will be able to work with minimum supervision and will be able to set priorities and manage workload. You will also provide problem management and service desk response services, as well as technical advice. You will also be able to demonstrate knowledge of other major RDBMS including Oracle and experience in UNIX operating systems. This will have been gained from working in a multi platform environment, preferably within a large organisation. The ability to communicate effectively is essential and experience of ITIL and IT management processes would be an advantage with a particular focus on Capacity and Availability Management.
