Flint and Tinder (www.FlintandTinderUSA.com) needs design help ASAP. We're currently a small company (just two people), doing fairly big things though (60,000+ units on order, press coverage from ABC News, Forbes, WWD etc) so it should actually be a fairly fun job. Ideally, this will lead to something more permanent, but for now, we just want someone to show up to our Williamsburg office on a per day, as needed, basis (likely 1 - 3 days per week) to work on the various bits and pieces of collateral we need made. Mission 1: Designing Tyvek (that nearly impossible to tear paper) envelopes our products will come in along with the boxes of matches they come with. Sounds like good times, right? If you're the type who enjoys making tangible products that actually get people excited it certainly is. The ideal candidate will have a few years worth of work in their portfolio and is looking for the next thing. We'll start out with a series of projects, each with a fairly limited scope... we'll pay per day, but ask you to work from our office so we can iterate quickly... and see where it leads. If everyone gets along we could be talking full time job by the end of July. In terms of style, the look we're after is something artisanal, hand-crafted, masculine, rugged yet refined. Think somewhere between Yingling, vintage Ford Broncos, and Knob Creek, with some craft paper and letter press thrown in for fun. It can be tough to pin down at times, but we'll know it when we see it. Pay is $200 per day to start and, if all goes well, probably a bit more when it switches over to a staff position.
