Mechanical Design Manufacturing Engineer Muskegon, MI Our West Michigan client is seeking candidates for a contract position in their lakeshore production plant. The successful candidate should have a strong background in engine production support (a strong manufacturing background) and is prepared to hit the floor running. The Mechanical/Design Engineer will provide core expertise directed towards Heavy Fuel Engine design and development . Current product line include 12 cylinder 1790 cu.in. diesel engine, Wankel heavy fuel engines in 350- 500cc, and Opposed Piston Opposed Cylinder engine. On-going and future developments requiring engineering expertise include electronic fuel injection, High output diesel (60-70 hp per liter), and variable valve timing. On-going production product improvements include production process and planning of the 1790 cu.in. diesel. Applicant must be proficient in CAD design with Pro-E Wildfire experience a plus. Must be able to effectively coordinate work in a team environment. Coordination includes: a.) Extensive interaction with individuals within the engineering such as engineering managers , producibility, test, and project engineers. b) Technical and program management of electrical and mechanical technicians. c) Effective description of requirements, progress, results and recommendations, via both oral and written communications. d.) Interacting with senior personnel on significant technical matters in a coordinated environment. e.) Working effectively with various suppliers and customers Other critical aspects of the position include: a.) Close interaction with customers on a technical level, and marketing of CPS products b.) Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and only general directions provided. c.) Prepare and manage budget and schedule. d.) Ability and willingness to adapt to, and promote, a changing environment, applications, organizational structure, etc. e.) Adherence to budget, schedule, and cost constraints. f.) Ability to provide technical solutions to a diverse range of applications, often worked on in parallel. - BS Mechanical Engineering with minimum 5 years in internal combustion engine design- Required - MS Mechanical Engineering with minimum 3 years in internal combustion engine design - Preferred -Required Proficiency using Pro-E CAD - Proven ability and drive to make technical decisions, and initiate and complete assignments with minimum direction. - Proven ability to work within budgetary and schedule constraints, prioritize tasks and plan effectively. - Proficient in Microsoft Office Software (Power Point, WORD, EXCEL) - Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate ideas, plans, and results effectively via presentations and written reports - Interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others
