A Principal Applications Technical Professional will be part of the Landmark Research and Development group, working in an Agile team environment to develop and deliver Quality software for the Oil and Gas industry. The successful candidate will utilize his/her domain knowledge in a key role as part of the software development team. The Principal Applications Technical Professional will collaborate with the team to understand the Test Requirements/Objectives which will then be documented as Test Cases. Test Cases will be executed as part of the Development Life Cycle to validate functionality against requirements and to verify functionality continues to perform accordingly as changes are made to the product. Discrepancies in expected behavior will be captured, communicated and documented as Defects and once fixed, verified to conform to expected behavior. Finally, the Principal Applications Technical Professional will provide valuable feedback to the team on the state of developed functionality and the overall Quality of the end Product. Accountabilities: Define Testing objectives based on Acceptance Criteria Develop Test Cases based on Test Objectives and Acceptance Criteria Write comprehensive Test Cases to verify project functionality Adhere to testing standards Execute Test Cases according to plan and document results Validate functionality according to requirements/stories Verify changes to functionality have no undesired affect on other, associated areas of functionality Identify, communicate and document defects in a consistent fashion Track defects through resolution and implementation Verify defects are resolved according to defect definition Provide estimates of time for the test plan implementation Track and communicate progress against the Test Plan Create Test Data Provide objective assessment of Product Quality Technical Competencies Understanding of core WellPlanning concepts including Torque and Drag forces affecting drillstrings, casings, liners Knowledge of Pressure drop calculations, bit hydraulics, down hole cleaning operations Able to perform Kick tolerance analysis Understanding of pressure effects during wellbore Kill operations Understanding of Wellplan output graphs/reports for all WellPlan modules Able to model BHA performance for steerable and rotary BHA Able to model BHA behaviors to identify critical rotary speeds and high stress conditions Able to simulate Cementing operations Able to perform pressure transient analysis for swab, surge and reciprocation operations Able to calculate stuck point, back-off force, jar setting and tripping forces Able to estimate Casing Setting Depth Able to perform standard and advanced Casing/Tubing Designs Familiarity with competitive, Third Party Drilling Engineering products General understanding of Software Development and Testing methodologies Detail-oriented Good Troubleshooting/Problem solving skills Domain knowledge in Petroleum industry Attention to detail
