VOIP Technician

Below is a description of the job requirements; General Responsibilities: Act as team member for the deployment of VoIP phone systems and infrastructure related solutions, services, and equipment. Participate in the delivery of VoIP services including integration, and operation of complex VoIP systems. Maintain manufacturer and industry standards compliance during the deployment of VoIP systems. Meet solution deployment miles stones and schedules, report to project management. Interface with clients and customers for proper deployment and configuration, as well as user guidance and training. Assist Solution Architects and engineers in consulting clients and customers to achieve the best results during the deployment and testing. Support VoIP planning and testing as well as troubleshoot VoIP problems in a state-of-the-art access network lab as well as in production environments. The successful candidate will join a staff of Engineers that support access data networks providing consulting/solutions across various groups. Capabilities: Extensive applicable knowledge of LAN/WAN/VoIP architecture and integration/configuration. Must know VoIP protocols (SIP, RTP, MGCP, H.232 and related). A strong working knowledge of current VoIP technologies and their implementations, from edge elements (ATAs) to core network elements (Soft Switch, Gateway, etc.). Working knowledge of access network issues that impact VoIP performance as well as their measurement and analysis. Possess a strong working knowledge of data communications and Internet knowledge including: TCP/UDP/IP, routing, tunneling, PPP, ATM, and mobile IP. Integrate VoIP solutions into the network by loading configurations and security policies. Physically install network equipment (rack & stack), configure, turn up, and test. Assist client in developing configurations and addressing plans. Conduct post-install surveys and troubleshoot any issues with VoIP, network, or security.
