Senior Infrastructure Specialist
Senior Infrastructure Specialist Due to continued growth we are looking for an experienced Infrastructure Specialist to help take our client's e-commerce platform to the next level. This role requires someone with a very strong technical background who is able to work hands-on as well as significantly contribute towards our long term strategy and management of its implementation. The successful candidate should also have a vast array of skills and experience on multiple technologies that exist across a modern and typical Infrastructure estate. One of the key requirements of this role is to complete a full operational review of our current estate, and then working directly with the Head of IT to produce a plan to deploy and implement the systems and processes to provide a solid foundation on which our business will operate for the medium and long term. This role would deal purely with our back-end systems, i.e. e-commerce, in our data centres. There is no requirement for day to day office systems (Exchange, Outlook, file and print, etc.), these are supported externally. The role would suit someone with extensive experience and is currently at a senior / management / architect level. This is a contract role with a minimum 9 month requirement spell, with the possibility of extending to 12 months. Technology experience: · Windows Server 2008 R2 – install, configure, maintain, security, process, standard build. · HP ProLiant Servers – install, maintain, centralised management, firmware. · SAN – management, optimisation, maintenance, RAID. · Cisco – core networking (3750), security, performance, optimisation. · TCP/IP – DNS, routing, spanning tree, sub-net masking, VLAN, etc. · High Availability – application level, server level, network level, NIC level, etc. · Firewall – Checkpoint + Watchguard, management, policy review, standards, maintenance. · Load Balancing – F5 Local Traffic Management, administration, maintenance. · Global Traffic Management – active / active load balancing at data centre level. · Data Centre Operations – hosted with 3rd parties in multiple locations. · Monitoring – Nagios. New system with review and policy development required. · E-commerce – multiple web servers, application servers and database servers using .NET. · Domain Management – whois, DNS, propergation. · Virtualisation – VMware and Hyper-V. · Performance Load Testing. Experience / Attributes: · ITIL – experience of developing processes and services within an ITIL framework. · Process – strong process development skills. · Dynamic – ability to work with the business, proactive, develop professional relationships with a can do attitude. · Management – ability to work within a management role. · Documentation – strong documentation skills and ethos. · Best Practices – knowledge of the latest best practices in all aspects of the above. · Support – 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support. · Ability to work professionally with our partners and 3rd party suppliers. · Mentoring of existing staff. · Capacity Planning – storage, server, network utilisation. · Evaluate/Select and assist with selection and deployment of applications and systems tools to assist the Business. · Document, Train and knowledge transfer of deployed systems. · A Strategic thinker who can work at a Strategic level with both the Business and IT. · Ability to represent Business ideas and concepts. · Have experience of working in a busy, fast paced windows server environment in a senior role. · Effective communicator both written and oral.
