We have an immediate need for a DB2 Applications DBA. This is a long term contract opportunity located in Chicago’s North Suburbs. This positions role and responsibility will include working with Database Administrators, Database Engineers and customers (Database Developers and Product Managers) to design and deploy, maintain and enhance database infrastructure. Assist with the definition and implementation standards and best-practices for Database Operations and the tools and processes to enable them Hands-on development of database tools and infrastructure and tools where necessary Database capacity projections Database performance optimization Escalation and assistance to the Production DBA team On-call availability as needed to support critical operations and initiatives - This is a DB2 database, running on LUW partition of an iSeries. We are NOT using the Oracle Database. - The charter for this position is to maintain the database in the AIX partition and LUW (LINUX/UNIX/Windows) which will be a DB2 database. Qualifications: · 6 to 10 years of experience working as an applications DB2 DBA · Experience with DB2 9.7 preferred · Must have TSM and solid Performance Tuning skills and experience · Thorough understanding of RDBMS systems and architecture which includes, DB2 MS SQL 2000, 2005 & 2008 · Expertise in database performance tuning and optimization - Expertise in database disaster recovery planning and recovery - Extensive experience with database replication, mirroring and transaction log shipping - Experience with real-time caching architectures and database integration - Experience with other ODBMS systems (Oracle, DB2,SQL etc.) a plus - Demonstrated ability to address complex database administration problems - Thorough understanding of database performance monitoring and analysis tools - Strong interpersonal, analytical and customer service skills - Strong communication skills to all organizational levels Palace Gate Corporation is an information technology consulting and full-time placement firm that is committed to the success of our clients and our talented placements alike.
