Roles and Responsibilities: (As Needed) Technical Writer This position is responsible for creating user and technical documentation in support of Texas education data web reports developed using SAS BI business intelligence tools. Candidate preferred to have experience in data and business analysis as well as testing/QA experience. Candidate must have experience and demonstrated skill writing end user help documentation and technical documentation that is web based, searchable, and linkable within an application development environment. Candidate is required to create documentation for educational reports and graphs to describe how to access and use the reports as well as describe the meaning of data contained in the reports. Must be able to interpret and explain complex educational reports for user documentation. Secondary responsibilities will include requirements analysis, data analysis, and testing web reports for content, data, and format. The hired candidate will work under minimal supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. II. WORKER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Requirements: Years Skills/Experience 8 Demonstrated skill and experience writing end user help documentation, training materials, requirement specifications, and / or technical documentation that is web based, searchable, and linkable. 1 Experience delivering oral presentations and training. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. 1 Knowledge of and experience with Accessibility issues (Section 508/ADA & TAC 206.50). 1 Knowledge of and/or experience with HTML. Preferences: Years Skills/Experience 1+ Familiarity with educational data. Knowledge of FERPA requirements and confidentiality issues concerning education data. 1+ Experience in data analysis, databases, report design, report development, coding in SAS and SQL. 1+ Proficiency using SAS Enterprise 4.3, SAS Web Report Studio and SAS Information Delivery Portal for report development and delivery. 1+ Experience using SQL queries to extract data from relational databases, data warehouses and SAS files. 5+ Experience in systems and business analysis in application development environment. 5+ Experience testing of web applications and reports based on requirements documentation and customer usability guidelines.
