Job Description: Responsible for ensuring and continually improving the quality of software prior to release. Serves as a member of the development team, and works with all members of the team, especially developers, to ensure that quality is built into deliverables as they are developed, defects are found and corrected as early as possible after their injection, and root causes are examined and processes improved to prevent defects where possible and economically feasible. Responsibilities • Software quality processes and techniques: identification and selection, deployment, mentoring, training and coaching. • Troubleshoot and continually improve the development process through appropriate application of software quality engineering practices, such as: peer review, unit and integration testing, and static analysis. • Software quality tools: selection, development, customization, deployment and support. • Assistance and guidance to the development team with writing and conducting unit tests. • Assistance and guidance to the development team with using code coverage tools such as EMMA. • Support and maintain several of the client's 3rd Party applications that focus on application development including subversion, maven, Hudson, etc • Support the rollout of application development’s 3rd party tools and processes to the application development community Required Skills: • Full range of software quality techniques and tools, as outlined: • Maven build configuration and customization for large-scale Enterprise Java development, e.g.: dependency management, site reporting, test configuration, profiles, multi-module builds. • Mentoring, coaching, training other developers • Knowledge of Enterprise Java distributed systems architecture, e.g.: JavaEE, Spring, Messaging, Relational DBMS. • Understanding of software development lifecycle concepts, including software configuration management, modeling, programming and development, and testing. • Knowledge of and experience in at least three of the following software engineering techniques, activities and/or tools: o Software Configuration Management (SCM) o Build Automation using Maven and Hudson o Eclipse o UML modeling tool o Developer testing techniques and tools • 2+ years Java programming experience • Unix • Attention to detail • Written, verbal and personal communication skills. • Ability to analyze, understand, and communicate to others technical data, specifications, designs, etc. • Troubleshooting and reasoning skills Critical Skills: Top 5-10 technical skills required for the job: 1) Experience developing custom plugins to development tools such as Maven, Eclipse & Hudson. 2) Experience with Unix shell scripting. 3) JavaEE and Spring development experience. 4) Subversion 5) Sparx Enterprise Architect • Ability to collaborate with multiple business and technical teams. • Strong problem solving and analytical skills. • Strong knowledge of Word, Excel and productivity tools • Strong verbal and written communication skills. • Ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously.
