Volt Workforce Solutions is hiring for an immediate Embedded Software Engineer opening for our client in BOISE, IDAHO. This is an on-site position. The position is a software engineering position with the Software Development team. The person will work with a team of software engineers that are responsible for designing, developing, and unit testing locomotive control embedded and host software written primarily in 'C'/'C++'. Responsibilities will include: *Integration and configuration management to deliver quick turn-around of controlled software baselines using Clearcase(required experience). *Responsible for logging and verification of software defects against baseline released as well as providing metrics as needed. *Generating Software Logs and packaging the software baseline tor release via MPI's ECO process. *Develop, maintain, and execute the necessary IEEE compliant SVVP, software test plans, test cases, test scripts to fully test and verify the software prior to release to other engineering organizations/QA. *Work closely with software team to continuously improve the efficiency and effectiveness of testing processes, implement automated testing, etc in order to improve the quality of the software prior to delivery. *Providing support to develop IEEE software documentation such as SRS,SDD,SVVP,STP. *Support development engineers in designing and running custom tests for problem duplication/debug. *Development of features and defect corrections in the locomotive control system using 'C' developed on a linux development platform. Volt is an Equal Opportunity Employer Requirements: *5+ years engineering experience in a Unix/Linux, C/C++ development testing organization developing software test plans, test execution, script development, and test harnesses. *Experienced with unit, component, system, integration, & exploratory testing for real time systems. *Experienced configuration manager/integrator using configuration management/revision control tools to release of software (i.e Clearcase) as well as software defect tracking tools. *Experience developing test and build processes as well as providing test metrics to help track quality *Experience developing IEEE style documentation such as SRS, SDD, SVVP, STP. Desired (any) *Scripting, makefile, software development experience. *Hands-on electrical/electronics experience. *Software test certification Personal Qualifications: *Must be a team player able to work in a dynamic changing environment with minimum of supervision. *Strong written and verbal communication skills. *Strong work ethic.
