Parent's Helpline Volunteer
YoungMinds’ Parents’ Helpline Service continues to be a lifeline for thousands of parents and carers worried about the emotional problems or behaviour of a child or young person, helping more than 6,000 families in 2010/11. YoungMinds relies on volunteers to support the delivery of our unique Parents’ Helpline service. We are looking for volunteers with: Good communication, interpersonal and IT skills; An awareness of the emotional difficulties families can face, the impact these can have on children, and the different kinds of help available. In return for your time, you will receive 30-40 hours training with our experienced team of Helpline staff and the opportunity to develop your telephone support skills and your understanding of the field of children and young peoples’ mental health and wellbeing across the UK. Induction and ongoing training and support as well as a travel and subsistence allowance will be provided. This is an ideal opportunity for anyone interested in working in the charity sector, on a helpline or within the fields of psychology or family support. Based: London Bridge, London Minimum commitment: 1 day per week for 12 months Training: Applicants will need to be available from the 10th September 2012 Closing date for receipt of applications: 10am 12th July 2012 (July Interviews) 10am 29th August 2012 (September Interviews) Interviews will be held at YoungMinds’ office in London on 19th July or 5th September 2012.
