This position is supporting the growth needed for the Encore project. This position will be responsible for Building servers and installing applications on the Unix Sun Solaris environment. This person needs to have heavy experience with installing, troubleshooting and maintaining patches. This person will also be working heavily with developing shell scripts for the deployment of systems and applications. This person will also be responsible for the build out and deployment of new servers as other go offline. Anyone with any Red Hat Linux experience is a plus. The client is in the process of a migration and could use help on that side but it is not a must have. This person needs to be very comfortable in Sun Solaris v10 including Solaris Volume Manager. Any experience with VMware is also preferred. Additional Job Info: There is no on-call for this position but this person MUST be willing to work nights as needed. Right now they have about 30-50% need for nightly deployments and patches. The client will work with the person and flex their schedule during the week to support that. On average the work is 4-6 hours over night. Top 3 Skills (stack ranked) : 1. 5+ yrs experience with building, deploying and installing Sun Solaris servers specifically V10. MUST have heavy experience with applying patches. 2. Heavy experience with Shell Scripting (Korn preferred) 3. At least some exposure to Red Hat Linux. Interview Info (date, time, process, interviewers) : Phone then Personal Work Environment (culture, deadline intensive, flexible hours, dress code) : The client is a very collaborative environment. The environment is deadline intensive but they do have realistic expectations. They are very flexible with hours but the core times are 9-4. This person MUST also be willing to work off hours for nightly patches and deployments. This will be between 30-40 % of the time. Business Challenge Client is Tasked with Solving : They are currently in the beginning stages of a major 3 yr project called Encore Prices. This project is the redevelopment of their pricing engine that allows them to do all of the options and derivatives clearing for their clients. This is one of the most important applications for the company. This application will push them into newer technologies and create a more user friendly experience. Who is the Internal/External Customer? (i.e., end-user or end-client) : This is for the internal business teams. Ultimately the application is owned by the business but it is being created for the clients and internal users. Impact to the Internal/External Customer? (i.e., how does the end-users job become easier?) : This is a very high profile and mission critical project. If this initiative fails the main engine for their business will not go online. If this happens they will not be able to clear their options and derivatives for their clients. Communication is critical to these roles as well. They are not looking for rouge developers that are out to help themselves they want team players.
