Word Macro For Replacing - VBA Visual Basic microsoft word
I would like to search through a Word 2007/2010 document (the MainDoc) and change / insert comments based on information contained in a second Word document (the DatabaseDoc). The MainDoc will be a standard Word 2003/2007/2010 file, you can think of it as an article or a paper, with formatting, graphics, tables, main text etc. The DataBaseDoc is a four column table with an indefinite number of rows as I frequently add new rows. The columns are: 1. Action = "Change" or "Comment" 2. Original Text = The text that will be searched for in the document. 3. New Text = The text that will be added (in the case of a "change") or inserted as a comment (in the case of a "comment"). 4. Source = A name of a person who suggested the change. The code will a) make a copy of the MainDoc in its directory. b) turn revisions mode on in Word 2007/2010 c) search the entire document looking for the text in the "Original Text" column. Once found, the text will be altered based on the corresponding cell in the "Action" column: In the case of a: * "Change" the text will be replaced with the text in the "New Text" column and a comment added, highlighting the text, with the information contained in the "source" column. * "Comment" a comment will be added combining the text in the "New Text" column, a dash " - ", and the text in the "source column" If necessary the DatabaseDoc can be provided in Excel.
