Network Design Consultant San Luis Obispo, CA AVA Consulting is seeking a Network Design Consultant Location: San Luis Obispo, CA Visa Status: US Citizens only. H1 Visa Holders need not apply. Job Description: Responsible for complex testing and analysis of all elements of the network facilities. Applies advanced understanding of business needs in the development of network resources. Establishes network priorities as they relate to achievement of short and long-term business goals and objectives. Analyzes and provides innovative solutions to network engineering and design projects. Applies advanced understanding of WAN/LAN internetworking design elements including cost versus performance tradeoffs, protocol interoperability, network architecture development, and requirements for testing/proof of concept. Mentors and instructs lower level engineers on technical expertise needed in collecting and assembling data, preparing reports, monitoring progress, and analyzing data. Provides support in the use of protocol analyzers and network test equipment. Typically, provides professional experience in the development of complex, innovative and cost-effective solutions to problems facing organization. Technical expertise utilized in areas such as marketing, business acquisition and/or client support. Provides significant expertise in areas such as research studies, tradeoff analysis, operation studies, design reviews, and technical briefings. Provides consulting services to client and corporate technical staff for analysis and design of portions of complex integrated systems and communication solutions. 10+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience. With minimal direction, applies principles, theories, and concepts, as well as knowledge or related discipline. Demonstrated advanced proficiency in WAN/LAN internetworking including design elements including cost versus performance tradeoffs, protocol interoperability, network architecture development, and requirements for testing/proof of concept. Demonstrated advance proficiency with platform operating systems (router, platforms, LAN, WAN, and router protocols) and how they interact with the network. Demonstrated advanced skills in researching, analyzing, planning, designing, installing and maintaining local and wide area networks. Demonstrated ability to mentor and instruct lower level engineers on technical expertise needed to advance in their technical careers in collecting and assembling data, preparing reports, monitoring progress, and analyzing data. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of protocol analyzers and network test equipment. Demonstrated advanced skills in communicating both orally and in writing, by presenting technical solutions to broad audiences, including peer groups and client leadership. Completion of ITIL Awareness training. Additional skills per Associates IDP. All Specialist-level skills. Facilitates technical training class on networking technology/s. Cisco Certified Network Professional and Cisco Certified Design Professional preferred. Education: Undergraduate degree and 6-8 years relevant experience or Graduate degree and 4-6 years relevant experience.
