Job Description: ----------------------------------------------- Under limited supervision, use specialized knowledge and skills obtained through education, experience, and training to provide high level software deployment analysis and reporting for software applications, security patches, and desktop configurations for all personal computers connected within the company. Troubleshoot difficult problems encountered with the software distribution tools and work with the vendor’s software engineers if necessary to provide comprehensive solutions to complex problems. Also provide guidance and support to other department associates in completing procedures required for creating and running queries communicating with technology representative from each area of the company in building installation packages, building distribution packages, scheduling software and patch deployments insuring completion and necessary follow-up. Responsibilities: Distribute software applications, patches, and other software updates to all personal computers connected to the company domain using software distribution tools. Remain current on new developments with software packaging and distribution tools. Participate in troubleshooting software packaging and distribution tool efforts for desktop and server issues. Systems monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting and daily operations Identify areas in which improvements can be made and determines appropriate actions to be taken Ability to Partner with other functional areas to accomplish objectives Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all organizational levels Provide weekly/monthly status reports to management to summarize activities. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Document processes, procedures and work instructions as needed. Required Skills/Experience: BS in Computer Science/Engineering, or equivalent preferred. Previous LANDesk experience or equivalent experience with Microsoft SMS, Altiris, Marimba, Tivoli or HP OpenView Minimum of two (2) years experience in software deployment using a common enterprise tool, or an equivalent of education, training and/or experience. Knowledge of software packaging and distribution tools; concepts, practices and procedures of hardware and software support Familiar with computer hardware and software, peripheral equipment and diagnostic methods, techniques and procedures Experience with operating systems, resources and services, network communication protocols Web development, SQL DB operations and techniques to retrieve data from databases, Scripting tools desired.
