The Senior Sybase/MS-SQL DBA in Houston, Texas has the following functions: * Designs, analyzes, develops, codes, tests, debugs and documents programming to satisfy business requirements * Analyzes, develops, tests and implements database designs in support of corporate and client area technology requirements * Performs data modeling, logical and physical database design, maintenance & monitoring * Responsible for data loading, security, performance monitoring and tuning, capacity planning, and backup and recovery * Executes database software installation, database creations/configurations and loads Our client needs a Senior Sybase Database Administrator with additional skills in either MS-SQL or Oracle. This position is for an advanced or lead level resource. Requirements also include (required unless noted otherwise): * Proficient in application development skills for more than one technology as well as proficient in multiple design techniques * Database Platforms Sybase Primary & secondary skills in MS SQL Server or Oracle * Operating Systems needed: Sun Solaris/Linux/Windows * 7+ years experience as a DBA supporting Sybase 12.x and 15, Replication Server, and Microsoft SQL Server 2000/2005/2008 * Experience in SSIS, SSAS, OLAP, and Cubes is preferred * Administration tools like Enterprise Manager, DBartisan * Setting up log shipping, Mirroring/log forwarding, analyzing traces * SQL Performance Tuning skills * Stored Procedures, Triggers, and Packages experience * Experience in database design and some logical modeling knowledge * Experience on RAC/RMAN/Backup Recovery One of the below is beneficial as a secondary qualification: * 3+ years experience as a DBA supporting MS-SQL 12.5/15, or * 3+ years experience as a DBA designing & supporting Oracle 10g/11g/RAC databases in a large-scale (100+ servers) in a UNIX, Linux environment
