Currently we have a need for Senior Oracle DBA position to be based in Concord, CA or Gaithersburg, MD (Only US Citizen and GC). Rate: $ 60/Hr only on W2 Duration: 6 Months Contract to Perm Experience: 6+ Years Location: Concord, CA or Gaithersburg, MD (Only US Citizen and GC) Description : The successful candidate will Analyze and determine informational needs and elements, data relationships and attributes, proposed manipulation, data flow and storage requirements and data output and reporting capabilities. Define logical attributes and inter-relationships and designs data structures to accommodate database production, storage, maintenance and accessibility. Tests designed applications utilizing database management software or general programming software. Installs, implements and supports systems within the user base. Performs system level database maintenance. Knowledge/Skills Required : • Good understanding of the Oracle database, related utilities and tools. • Good understanding of the underlying operating system. • A good knowledge of the physical database design. • Ability to perform both Oracle and operating system performance tuning and monitoring. • Knowledge of ALL Oracle backup and recovery scenarios. • Good knowledge of Oracle security management. • Good knowledge of how Oracle acquires and manages resources. • Good knowledge Oracle data integrity. • Sound knowledge of the implemented application systems. • Experience in code migration, database Change Coordinator and data management through the various stages of the development life cycle. • Sound knowledge of both database and system performance tuning. • Should have sound communication skills with management, development teams, vendors and systems administrators. • Provide a strategic database direction for the organization. • Should have the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines. • Should possess a sound understanding of the business. Education and Experience : • BS technical degree or equivalent. • 6+ years of experience in Oracle database administration, including versions 9i, 10g and 11g. • Demonstrated proficiency with Golden Gate. • Experience in managing both development and production database environments. • Proven track record in DB performance management and high-priority troubleshooting. • Current, proven, in-depth technical skills in computer systems, preferably Linux. • Demonstrated working knowledge and experience in planning, installing, and maintaining Oracle RAC. • Participation in scheduled after-hours rotations and availability to work nights and weekends when necessary. • Excellent interpersonal skills. • High degree of verbal and written communication skills. • Ability to effectively communicate with remote peers in various time zones. • Strong client-facing customer service skills. • Proactive sense of urgency in resolving problems and preventing recurrence. Industry Experience : • Experience supporting mission critical Oracle 9i, 10g, 11g environments. • Oracle Database Certified Professional or Oracle Database Certified Associate. • Demonstrated ability to proactively drive automation and optimization of DB environments. • Experience with implementing service management best practices based on ITIL, • Familiarity with performance and stress testing. • Familiarity with DR approaches and crisis preparedness. • Software experience in RedHat Linux. • Experience with 24/7 follow-the-sun support models.
