System Engineer Location Austin Texas (Travis County) Security Clearance Needed: No No-Smoker Travel – Local travel required, other travel up to 10% potential Position Description This position calls for a critical customer facing key technical resource who will work with internal and external teams as technical lead for multiple projects for small and midsize businesses. Working directly with the Project Coordinator, the System Engineer participates in the development of implementation project plans, and timelines; develops and maintains detailed documentation, and ensures smooth project implementation. As a key top tier technical support resource, this position will also provide technical support to Help Desk technicians, as well as to clients with internal IT requirements. The System Engineer will also work directly with the sales team and Director of Technology to identify potential clients and opportunities, and to help develop sales proposals. This position has much face time and interaction with clients and will need someone who has strong communication skills. Also, this position allows for much self-direction and autonomy and, has strong advancement potential as well as bonus opportunities to increase pay based on performance. Duties The primary duty is to serve as technical lead on each assigned project and ensuring a smooth transition from start to execution of the project life-cycle. This includes working as an independent contributor as well as in a team environment. Required Job Skills and Qualifications: * Excellent technical leadership, interpersonal, communications, and presentation skills; ability to work as member of team as well as independently; self motivated and disciplined * Must have strong experience with Exchange configurations and migration to hosted email solutions (migration experience to Exchange 2007/2010 ideal) * Experience with Active Directory design, migration and management (including use of Group Policies) * Advanced networking knowledge, strong understanding of key network services * Experience with Symantic Backup Exec, etc., to disk and tape libraries * Deployment experience / management VMware vSphere environments including working with HA/DRS clusters and shared storage (isCSI or FC SANs ideal but Hyper-V or Xen virtualization clustering will be considered) Preferred Skills and Qualifications: * Candidate possession of certifications - MCITP, MCSE, VMware VCP certifications preferred but not required with relevant experience * Experience with Windows Server SBS installation, migration and support * Experience with Microsoft Terminal Services (preferably in clusters or farm configurations). Similar Citrix experience will be considered * Experience with Microsoft SQL Server installations, database migration and management. * VoIP & Digital phone system installation and support. (Avaya IP Office preferred) Typical Education/Experience A technology related Bachelor's degree; however, Company values experience and training and 5+ years of related experience is more important than education as a standalone requirement.
