QA Lead - Life Insurance - 6 Month Contract
Status: 6 Month Contract Job Category: Quality Assurance Career Level: Senior Work Experience: 10+ years of QA, 5 years of QA Lead, Life Insurance experience Industry: Life Insurance EXPERIENCE: Position Description: To manage/ lead a team of Testing professionals in providing a broad range of test services and solutions, ensuring established standards are met and planned objectives are achieved, and assuring all resources both On and Off-Shore work within the established frameworks for testing delivery, execution for measurement and continuous process improvement. Accountabilities: Lead the team in planning, preparing and executing effective test efforts and walkthroughs Manage, create, and deliver testing strategies and plans using risk analysis methodologies and tools and that align with the development approach/ methodology selected for the project Ensure the test process, methodologies and tools are applied appropriately and that test phase entry/ exit criteria are agreed to by stakeholders and applied by the test team Communication and understanding of the impact to testing for scope changes to the project management team both from a timeline/ cost and a risk perspective Prioritize testing tasks based on goals and risks of projects and ensure testing milestones, activities and tasks are completed as scheduled Manage and support the QA team in creating reusable test assets for both manual and automated test scripts Manage the defect process ensuring defects are documented, tracked and reported to facilitate timely fixes Report the status of test planning, defects and execution activities, including regular status updated to the project team using quality metrics Lead team in using test tools, defect tracking tools and other test support tools Ensure testing is conducted in a manner that does not impact the production environment and in accordance with established information security and information privacy policies and guidelines Lead the continuous, measured improvement of testing processes, strategies, plans and frameworks Primary liaison for testing resources and business participants on business acceptance test support Communicate and negotiate testing timelines, budget, staffing, scope and critical milestones with the project manager Ensure timely notification of issues/ problems and make recommendations for issue/ problem resolution to project team and resolve and/ or escalate testing issues where required Knowledge Required: Experience working in Life Insurance domain is required such as Elixir (MajescoMastek). Hands-on HP QC experience is preferred. QA certification is preferred. Bachelors, Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent. Advanced knowledge of testing and software development practices and methodologies, version control practices and defect management practices Advanced understanding and knowledge of Test Strategy development, Test Planning, Defect Reporting and Test Case design techniques for initiatives with high complexity Manages, coordinates and prioritizes test activities for the platform transformation of the Life Insurance System. Manages a team of 12 QA Analysts both on-site and offshore. Champions the optimization of test activities across the project for SIT and UAT. Manages the development and implementation of new testing strategies and directives. Reports to the Senior QA Director and Project Manager. Establishes effective relationships including people management.
